08/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/29/15 18:14 Zeus was brought in by the finder because the owners were not giving him the proper care. They were not giving him enough food or attention. The owners are worried about their 2 year old child’s safety around the dog and his food. They do not have the money or time to train Zeus. Behavior during intake Zues was very friendly and energetic. He jumped up to greet staff members and took treats. He licked my hands and wagged his tail. He allowed all handling-scanning(-), collaring and photographs. He pulls on the leash.
09/02/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Zeus has two faces….a fabulous, wide smile, ear to ear perfect smile, and then a frumpy face in which sometimes his upper lip gets caught in his tooth. Personally, I love the frumpy face as it reminds me of my Uncle George! Zeus is an awesome dog – a rock star with other dogs, a “gentle and dainty” player who’s tolerant and social. He also loves people, greeting everyone with a happy tail wag. He’s the guy you want at your party as he knows how to work the room, greeting everyone perfectly and making them feel like they’re the only ones in the room worthy of attention – yup – you’re that special! Lean and stunning in his caramel and white coat, he’s likely housetrained, loves to play with a ball and gives chase bringing it back, has the cutest, sweetest, pink freckled nose, and is curious about everything. He jumps up on the bench to cuddle with me and has an adorably sweet energy that I want to bottle for when I need it most. Zeus is a dog who loves everyone and everyone loves right back. Acing his behavior assessment means he’ll be a good fit in just about any home. Make this sweet guy yours and you’ll wake up every morning with a smile on your face….guaranteed!
08/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zeus was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open and jumps up on the assessor when the game ends. Zeus did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He put body between assessor and toy & rawhide, showing no growling or stiffness. Zeus was brought to the care center as a stray; upon intake, Zeus jumped up to greet staff and was very friendly an energetic. Zeus remained friendly towards the assessor throughout the assessment. The Behavior Department feels Zeus can go to an average home that is prepared to provide him adequate physical and mental stimulation as appropriate outlets for his energy. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging fast, with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 2.
