10/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/29/15 13:33 Ukulele A1056344 was tied up to a fence by the possible owner. The Park Rangers were flagged down to pick up the dog. They waited for someone to come back but nobody did. A person said that they saw a man tie the dog to the fence and left. Behavior during intake Ukulele was very friendly upon intake. She had a loose body and wagging tail. She was in a crate and wiggled her body until she was let out. She greeted staff members and sat for photographs. She allowed to be scanned, collared, and tolerated all petting.
10/31/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Break out your sunglasses as you’ll need them when you meet Ukulele! Her rich chocolate brown coat positively glows with good care! Her petite figure, big rabbit ears and wagging tail encase a sweet friendly personality ready to make a new friend. Out we go where she uses the “facilities” promptly and then looks up at me for approval, tail wagging. So cute! Since Ukulele is all about making friends, she couldn’t figure out why all the squirrels scurrying about in the park didn’t want to play. She tried but they simply weren’t interested. Ukulele pulls on her leash and pulls harder in her attempt to make squirrel friends. Off leash in the backyard we snuggle on the bench, Ukulele poses perfectly for some pictures, she sits (with some prompting) for treats which she takes gently. Her tail never stops wagging, and her sweet, affectionate, playful energy is completely engaging. She’s ready to make you her new BFF, meet her today and give her that chance.
11/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ukulele pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Ukulele was excitable but playful while playing tag and at the end of the game played tug-of-war with the leash (He was not difficult to distract him). Ukulele took the toy away but had soft body language. Ukulele appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Grab at the leash with a soft body and was not difficult to distract him. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. When off leash with other dogs Ukulele is uncomfortable and only allows a brief greeting. When the other dog exhibits sexually motivated behavior she gives a strong, loud correction.
