Meet Roscoe! This adorable little Yorkie is in need of immediate medical care. He came to the care center with a number of subcutaneous nodules, which will need to be biopsied to determine his best treatment course. It is possible that he has cutaneous lymphoma, however without a biopsy it is impossible to say for certain. Please pull little Roscoe from MACC by 7pm tonight!!

PROFILE:
Basic Info:
Roscoe is a 4yr old neutered male Yorkshire Terrier who was purchased from a breeder 4yrs ago and is being surrendered due to his and the families health issues. Roscoe currently has a skin condition which no vet has seem to find the cause of. He was last seen at a veterinarian march-may of this year.
Socialization:
Around strangers Roscoe is friendly/outgoing, excited and playful. His play style with adults and children (he lived with a 7yr old) is gentle, exuberant, playful, excited and hyper. Roscoe hasn’t lived with Dogs or Cats but when he sees Dogs on the street he barks excitedly and wants to play with them. Roscoe has never bitten/scratched any person or animal.
Behavior:
During storms/fireworks Roscoe isn’t bothered. He also isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being removed off of furniture, being disturbed while he sleeps/rests. He’s taken to the groomers for his nails to be trimmed and for his ears to be cleaned. He loves bathtime and being brushed. During his vet visits he struggles to be let go of while being restrained. When someone unfamiliar approaches the home or family member(s) Roscoe will bark at first but then begin to jump on them for attention.
For a New Family to Know:
Roscoe is described as friendly, extremely affectionate, extremely playful, hyper & excitable. His activity level is described as high. The owners’ favorite thing about Roscoe is how smart and sweet he is. His favorite activity is to play with ball toys he’ll fetch them but won’t bring it back to you, he wants you to chase him for it. He likes ball, chew/bones, rope toys. He’s mostly an indoor dog who’s walked 3-4x a day for 10-20mins each time for brisk walks where he pulls on the leash & prefers to “go” on grass. Roscoe eats dry beneful food 1x a day (full bowl), he enjoys Milkbones and dental chews. Roscoe is very housetrained but for the last 2-3wks he’s been having accidents in the home almost everyday. His known commands are “sit”. “come”, “out” (to walk/go outside), & he knows when it’s time to eat.
Intake Behavior:
Roscoe had a loose wiggly body and was soliciting attention/affection from the admission counselors. He allowed us to scan (pos.) & take his pictures.
BEHAVIOR:
Roscoe was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. He was calm and relaxed during handling. He as calm and relaxed when playing tag with assessor and approached the assessor in a friendly manner once movement ceased. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Roscoe had minimal interest in toys and rawhide.
Roscoe was surrendered by his owners of 4 years. His previous owners reported he is friendly/outgoing, excited and playful with strangers and lived with a 7 year old child that he was gentle, exuberant, playful, excited and hyper toward. It was also reported that Roscoe is unbothered having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched or moved. Roscoe was friendly toward the assessor throughout the assessment and showed no behavioral concerns. The Behavior Department believes Roscoe can go to an average home.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.

Tag: 1. Dog stands with his tail low and wagging, and comes toward the Assessor in a friendly manner when the Assessor ceases moving.
Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek.
Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smell and mouths, then turns away.
Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell and mouths, then turns away.
Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long or neutral.
