06/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: ‘Thank you so much for the invitation to the party, but I’ll just sit this one out if you don’t mind’. That’s what I imagine Cuzow saying in her play group as she leaps onto the bench to quietly observe. As other dogs come to sniff she sniffs too, but keeps her place happy to stay on the bench. When I sit beside her she shifts position to sit closer to me, puts her paws on my lap and snuggles in closer. I marvel at how luxurious her coat feels; she’s clearly been well fed and taken care of before joining us. A beautiful little girl, she’s looking for a new bench/couch to sit on and hopes she doesn’t have to wait long.
06/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cuzow walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Cuzow was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag. Cuzow growled and snapped at the assess-a-hand during the food bowl test. She was not interested in toys or rawhide. Cuzow was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Cuzow may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without children Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 4. Dog growls and snap. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog – dog 1.
