07/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nibbles previously lived with triplets that are 11 years old and 2 adults. The owner stated she had infant visitors; she is relaxed, tolerant, and exuberant during play with the children. The owner mentioned Nibbles has lived with a cat and is relaxed and affectionate with the cat. The owner also stated Nibbles is housed trained and has a very high activity level. The owner describes Nibbles as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow, independent, and friendly. It was also reported by the owners she barks and growl at strangers that approach her home and will growl is someone attempts to take her bone from her. She is also crate trained and is well behaved when left home alone. At intake Nibbles bared her teeth, growling and started to bark at the counselor, no handling was allowed at the moment. During SAFER Nibbles came into the assessment room with curious and fearful body language. She allowed the assessor to conduct all of the tactile assessment items, but displayed very stiff and concerning body language throughout this portion of the evaluation. Nibbles did not show any interest in any of the resource items as well, and was inconclusive. Due to all of the information recorded and observed in the shelter the behavior department believes that Nibbles should go to a rescue that can provide positive experiences for Nibbles, and provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification to address potential guarding behavior and can extensively counsel potential adopters before placement into a permanent home. Look: 3. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and very fearful, her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 1.
