04/22/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/22/15 13:09 During intake the dog would approach extended hand and sniff it. He would jump onto admission counselor and brush head against hand. Allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and leashed without aggression. When touched had soft, relaxed body. He was given treats and took gently from hand. He appears to know the commands sit and stay as he followed them when admission counselor stated them. While in the office Loafer noticed another dog on the other side and would have soft, relaxed body and attempted to approach by sniffing.
05/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Loafer’s face is one big smile and his chunky little body wiggles with joy over the smallest pleasures, if this guy had a middle name I’ve no doubt it would be Happy! He’s not really a snuggler (that would involve standing still) but Loafer gives hand kisses and has oodles of love for every man, woman and dog he meets. 5 years young and full of fun, everything from tennis balls to liver treats to butt rubs quickly sends him into full-on play bow and wigglebutt mode, he’s such a clown! Loafer pulls slightly on leash but is responsive to my voice and takes care of all his business tout suite once we hit the street. Fetch and keep-away are favorite games but he doesn’t guard his toys and once I catch him Loafer surrenders the ball right from his mouth. He sits for treats and takes them very gently but it’s his amazing social skills that impress me most, every dog we meet is an instant friend and his manners are just perfect, amiable but low-key. Playgroup with a lot of boisterous pups does overwhelm him a little but one-on-one he is fantastic. Through the fence he’ll watch and whine to play with his pals but once in the same pen he’s all about the wagging tail, friendly sniffing and even face kisses! Is there anything sweeter than doggie-to-doggie smooches? I think not! This beautiful boy is already neutered and ready to leave for his forever home as soon as possible so jump on the train to Happytown today – Mayor Loafer can’t wait to meet you!
04/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Loafer pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Loafer was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Loafer did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He was not interested in toys or rawhide. Loafer is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3.
