04/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: If I had a dollar for every person who smiled at Adidas as we walked down the street I’d be rich! His wide smile, jauntily wagging tail and happy step all suggest a friendly playful dog – and he is!! Likely housetrained he went potty as soon as we were out the door and off we go. He pulls on the leash in happy excitement at being out for a walk so will benefit from a harness and/or leash training. His coat is clean and groomed, his weight perfect for his size and his friendliness to both people and other dogs suggest a well socialized dog. A poodle met in the park is greeted with a play bow and a tail wag before we move on. In group Adidas plays hard and needs to learn some manners. Adidas would love an active home in which plenty of exercise is available…and might even make a great jogging partner! He’s young, enthusiastic, playful, super friendly to all and ready to begin his happily ever after. Play bowing for a treat, he takes them gently so will be easy to teach using positive reinforcement training. If you’re ready to welcome your new exercise partner into your home, Adidas is the perfect companion. Ask to meet him today.
04/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Adidas was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Adidas was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Adidas was not interested in toys or rawhide. Adidas pulls hard on the leash he needs a significant amount of exercise, mental stimulation and training. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. This dog is extremely high energy dog he needs a few toys that require him to think. Toys like Kong’s and ice Cubes load with treats to keeping him occupied for a while. He needs an adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Adidas is sexually motivated. Dog’s behavior is driven by his desire to procreate. He is not playing or aggressing and is almost solely focused on engaging in mating behaviors.
04/30/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Adidas is sexually motivated and may not take any correction. However, with a dog who engages in rough play and corrects appropriately he will slow down and be a bit more respectful.
