04/22/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/22/15 12:23 Intake Behavior: Lovie was brought in a carrier. When the carrier was approached and she was spoken to softly she started to wag her tail. She also barked a couple times but will the body language when wagging her tail. The counselor was able to leash her and walk her out of the carrier. When she stepped out of the carrier she tucked her tail up to her stomach and started to lip her nose. She walked into the office and sat down. When someone walked by her quickly she jumped up and barked. This happened a couple of times when others were walking by or approaching. She did not behave this way toward the counselor handling her.

04/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper: 1028933 Lovie came to the shelter as a stray on 4/25/15. Upon intake it was reported that Lovie was a bit nervous with her tail tucked, but allowed the admissions counselor to handle her. Lovie was very interested in interacting with the assessor when entering the behavior room. She would walk up to the assessor and try to lick his face multiple times while trying to collar her. Lovie allowed the assessor to handle her with ease and conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She proved easy to handle when chewing on a toy as well, but only displayed minimal interest in the food on this portion of the assessment. During the dog interaction Lovie rushed in with stiff body language and when close to the helper dog she growled. Due to the behavior demonstrated here the behavior department believes that Lovie can go to an experienced home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. She indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away.
