A volunteer writes: Slow and easy as he goes…..Douglas was snoozing in his kennel and awoke as I unlatched his door. Stepping out gently we head out the door to go potty. Doug is a pokey walker, a ‘stop and smell the roses’ kind of a dog, every scent to be investigated and cataloged. If he’s not ready to move on he digs in his heels (so to speak), and comes along when he’s good and ready. When he gets going he’s great on leash, his short little legs ambling along at a good pace by my side. He’s a block head, bull dozer, low rider, wagging his tail at some small dogs in the park, ignoring the larger ones. In play group he greets politely and then wanders off to do his own thing. He enjoys treats but has his favorites, rejecting one of mine for another which he liked and swept from my hand gently. Acing his behavior assessment earned him a spot in adoptions where he’s waiting to meet you. He’ll need some TLC for his coat which is a bit thin, and he’s hoping there’s a soft bed calling his name in his new home……we bet there is!
