08/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1047727 Elijah lived with two adults and a teenager of the age of 15 years old and was reported to be relaxed, playful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. It was also reported that Elijah is playful with dogs he encounters with on walks, and he is curious towards cats. His activity level was said to be very high and the owner stated Elijah is hard to control when he is hyper. It was also mentioned that Elijah has a habit of destroying household items such as doors, shoes, garbage and tissue. It was also stated that Elijah is semi house trained, and he is crate trained but usually whines when left alone. During SAFER Elijah was social, but became tense and uncomfortable during some of the handling items, and was a bit distracted during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Elijah was stiff and could not be pushed out of the food bowl, but did not escalate to growling or snapping. He was not interested in the toy items, and was easy to handle when engaged with the rawhides. Elijah is social, but can become uncomfortable with new situations, so a slow approach is recommended. Elijah has also been reported to show destructive behavior in the home and we suggest to future adopters that Elijah will need to be provided with physical and mental stimulation and with a variety of appropriate and engaging chew toys so he can engage in necessary chewing behavior without damage to human objects. The department recommends an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2.
