08/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1047593 The previous owner states Blue Ivy was relaxed and playful around strangers, and can play somewhat rough due to his size. The owner states Blue Ivy was exposed to an 8 yr old child and was playful, but may be too rough for smaller children. When Blue Ivy is walked outside the yard it was reported that he will growl, bark and lunge at other dogs. It was mentioned that he is afraid of baths but he is tolerant and he isn’t bothered when his food bowl is touch when eating. It was also mentioned that Blue Ivy will destroy house hold items and furniture if left unattended, and it was stated that he has a high activity level. The owner stated Blue Ivy is also crate trained and can do well in a crate for up to 8 hours. Upon intake it was noted that Blue Ivy was shy, but allowed all handling as long as he was approached calmly. During SAFER Blue Ivy was shy when interacting with the assessor, but he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was a bit fearful during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Blue Ivy only showed minimal interest for all the items and during the dog-dog interaction Blue Ivy approached the helper with stiff body language. Blue Ivy can be shy during introductions, and becomes fearful of sudden movements. The department feels Blue Ivy would do best with an experienced adopter with no young children, and we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Blue Ivy be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s holds gaze. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog sniffs, then turns away. Toy: 1.
