06/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Coconut came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Coconut came into the assessment room friendly, loose and wiggly, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Coconut was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Coconut was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Coconut appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for a “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Coconut is nervous and defensive and attempts to avoid other dogs in the yard. He offers a lip curl when dogs approach or try to solicit for play.
