06/27/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/27/15 14:22 hrs Chisel appears to be a gray brindle Staffordshire mastiff and about 2 years old. He was surrendered as a stray but was in the home of his finder for one night. The finder stated that Chisel is a high energy dog that plays with everyone he comes in contact with. He allowed the finder and his teenage brother to pet and hold him. Chisel would jump onto the finder’s legs and licks and play bites. He also would urinate when he had become overly excited. Chisel was confined to a room in the finder’s home. He did not bark when he heard unknown sounds near his door. Chisel appeared to not be house trained because he urinated multiple times in the finder’s home. During intake, Chisel approached the Admissions Counselor with a wiggly body and wagging tail. Once he was given treats he attempted to follow the Admissions Counselor around the room. He was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photo’d without showing any signs of aggression.
07/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Out of the corner of my eye I spotted two big rabbit ears framing an impossibly adorable face and I knew that dog would be my next walk. I promised him I’d be back for him and I always keep my promises so Chisel and I went out. Likely housetrained, he peed the moment we were out the door and showed off his lovely leash manners as we walked to the park. He checks up often as we walk and I assured him he was being a rockstar! In the park we stopped to take some pictures and he posed perfectly, didn’t mind being tethered, sat for treats and accepted them gently but hungrily. He’s a bit too thin in my opinion, so an additional few pounds will suit him well. Off leash in the back yard he was more interested in cuddling with me than he was with a ball or a toy. A good butt scratch is always welcomed, and Chisel enjoyed every moment, tail wagging and wearing a big smile as he looked back at me. Affectionate and sweet, he’ll initially jump up for some hugs but settles down quickly, content to drape himself in my lap for some kisses. Acing his behavior assessment means the behavior team feels he’ll be a good fit in just about any home. Come meet him today and see if that home will be yours!!

Chisel pulls hard on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Chisel was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Chisel was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away with a soft body language. He was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful.
