04/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bryan came into our center as a stray on 4/19/2015. He was nervous upon intake and growled when approached, but calmed down once leashed but still anxious. He did not pull on leash, but was fearful of the environment. Bryan would not allow assessor to conduct Look item, pulling away cautiously. He allowed touch for Sensitivity item with soft body and relaxed ears. Bryan was fearful during Tag, with tail low and stiff body. He had stiff body for Squeeze, moving onto flank but still stiff and nervous. Bryan ceased eating and lifted his head out of the food bowl with no aggression. He had no interest in toys or rawhide. Bryan rushed in with tail well above spine level during Dog to Dog interaction. The Behavior Team feels Bryan would do best in an Experienced home with no children. He may require a very experienced adopter that can take the time to make him comfortable in his new environment. Bryan presented fearful but did not aggress during assessment. It should be noted that after the assessment, Bryan stayed in the room with assessor and observer and within 15 minutes was kissing the observer’s face. Bryan’s behavior may improve in a structured and routine environment in a permanant home where he can acclimate and feel more comfortable. Look: 4. Unable to conduct item. Dog pulls away and will not allow head to be cupped in assessor’s hands. Body stiff. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and ears relaxed. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog spins toward the touch, body stiff, fearful. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1: 3.
