From the moment I greet Brooklyn at her cage, her eyes light up, knowing that we’re about to go on an adventure! With ease, I get her out of her kennel and we make it to the outside door and she is ready to go! Brooklyn is a little explorer, investigating every interesting smell we pass, seeing what she can find. When she is excited, she pulls slightly, as if to say I’m on a mission! But she does listen to my commands, telling her that there is no rush, (she knows how to sit and stay!) and that she can take her time to find what she is looking for. And sometimes… that is a back scratch! She takes a few breaks from her quest to get in some cuddles and petting, and then off we go again in search of a mystery treasure! Brooklyn is an amazing girl, sweet, smart and fun and she would love to find a sidekick to go on adventures with her and take on the world!

BROOKLYN Loves to Explore! This city Pittie will make a great hiking buddy! In BACC for almost 2 months! Brooklyn is a was surrendered to BACC because her owners were moving. She has been patiently waiting for her forever home since the beginning of March! Brooklyn has previously lived with children and a cat, and has greatly improved her doggie social skills in playgroup. S/O: Vet check to recheck 2nd digit on RFL for swelling.
Patient is BAR in kennel, attention seeking cooperative for exam
Allowed palpation and handling of paw/digit
2nd digit on RFL still appears to have moderate soft tissue swelling
No signs of foreign body seen, no obvious wounds
Appears to favor digit slightly on gait
Based on previous exam – x-rays indicated.
DP and lateral views taken – no obvious fractures/dislocations noted. Moderate amount of soft tissue swelling seen.
Prognosis: Good
Rec. continue current treatment – Recheck at end of treatment.

Re-exam: 4/26
Hx: Swollen left front 2nd toe noted on 4/22/15. Some swelling still present on 4/24/15.
S: BAR-H, friendly, allows all handling
A: All four feet look great – no swelling or erythema noted on dorsal or plantar surfaces.
Short-term prognosis: Excellent
P: No further tx needed. OK to return to playgroup.

The owner is moving and the new place has a strict no pet policy.
RELATIONSHIP
Brooklyn was found as a pup loose in the streets. She is now 3 years old and has been with the same family for 3 years.
PEOPLE
Brooklyn lives with adults and children. Brooklyn loves attention from everyone. She loves kids and the owner says she knows to be gentle with them. She will usually jump up on adults, but not children.
OTHER ANIMALS
Brooklyn has lived with a cat before without incident. The owner believes she would be okay living with a cat because she is playful and relaxed around them. Brooklyn has never lived with another dog, but is well socialized with the by going to the dog park. She hasn’t been to one in weeks because of the cold weather.
PERSONALITY/HABITS
Brooklyn is an inside dog with a very high activity level. She isn’t bothered when you touch her food bowl while eating, when you take her rawhide or bone away, or when her toy is taken away. She doesn’t mind baths and isn’t bothered by unfamiliar people approaching her, her family, or home. She is afraid of her nails being but and will pull her feet away and struggle. She follows her owners around when they are home and she sleeps in her dog bed. When left alone Brooklyn is well behaved. Brooklyn isn’t bothered by loud sounds like fireworks or storms. She enjoys going on 3 runs a day and playing with her squeaky toys. She also fetches and plays tug. She eats wet and dry food together.
TRAINING
Brooklyn knows sit, down, stay, come, and shake. Her owner says she has never had a potty accident and knows to go on the potty pads provided. She also will go on grass and cement.
MEDICAL
The owner is unaware of any current medical conditions at this time.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Brooklyn was eager to greet everyone with a tail wag, an open mouth, and a jump up to say hi. She was loose and wiggly and very attentions seeking. She allowed all handling by Admissions staff.

SAFER:
Brooklyn came to us as an owner surrender on 03/1/15. It was reported by the previous owner that Brooklyn has lived with both children and adults. She is described as playing gently with the children and will only jump on the adults. The previous owner stated that Brooklyn is well socialized with other dogs from going to dog parks, and has lived with a cat without incident. Brooklyn allowed the assessor to conduct all of the tactile items of the assessment without displaying any signs of aggression. She proved easy to handle when chewing on the toy item, but only displayed minimal interest in both the food and rawhide items. Brooklyn approached the helper dog by rushing in with very playful body language.

Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog quickly pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog quickly pulls back her paw.
Food: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away.
Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away.
Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in, in play position. Her mouth is open.

Group Behavior:
When off leash with other dogs, Brooklyn is a polite greeter. She demonstrates play signals but will bark to end play. She appears to be conflicted about play with a respectful and tolerant male.
3/9 Update
With an energetic male, Brooklyn engages in a bit of rough and rowdy play but when the male is a bit forward, she offers a correction. With a calmer male, she polite greets but does not engage in play.
3/11 Update
Brooklyn interacts well with both males and females. She occasionally offers disproportionate correction when dogs come over in greeting and plays with mixed signals. She will play bow while giving sharp barks but generally seems interested in play and will eagerly run around the yard with other dogs.
3/15 Update
Brooklyn continues to be off leash with other dogs, she will engage in some play with a male dog, but is corrected when she attempts to engage in rowdier play. She does not respond to the correction.
3/16 Update
Brooklyn will try and actively engage other dogs in play. When play is not reciprocated, she is happy to run quickly around the yard in excitement
3/18 Update
Brooklyn continues to be eager to play and will offer play bows to other dogs in yard. If play is not reciprocated, can be content to wander the yard.
3/19 Update
Does not like assertive females in her space and will offer appropriate corrections. Can be a vocal player when trying to engage other dogs in play.
3/21 Update
Brooklyn continues to be eager to play with play-appropriate dogs
3/24 Update
Brooklyn is eager to play but gets over-excited and will bark when other dogs come up and try to interact
3/25 Update
Brooklyn continues to be eager to play but can get overexcited.
3/26 Update
Brooklyn enjoys playing and running with an active male and plays well.
3/29 Update
Brooklyn enjoys some rough and rowdy play with a male and will appropriately correct when mounted.
