11/03/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1055662 Brill came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Brill was curious but receptive to introduction, he was loose for all handling. It was also reported Brill had attack a small dog (poodle) stated from the previous owner that came in with her dog that had wounds 1 hour later, prior to when Brill was bought in. During SAFER Brill came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Brill was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on toy item Brill muzzle punches the assess-a-hand when attempting to remove the toy away but continue to play with toy and still maintain soft body language. When on leash for dog to dog interaction, Brill approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine, body not stiff and lip neutral. Due to a previous altercation Brill had with a small dog, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter and a thorough interaction before place into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
