I am a male black germ shepherd mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/22/2015 from NY 11421, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

S: Calm and quiet in cage. panting when standing but tacypnic when not lying down quietly, coughing noted by handlers but not observed during vet checks O: Appearance: QAR EENT: OU clear, No nasal d/c M/S: Amb x 4, no appreciable lameness A: Tachypnea with cough noted -r/o CIRDC vs. other P: Continue shelter wide azithromycin and penicillin protocol, add doxycycline 10mg/kg PO Q24, move to isolation, continue to seek outside placement. Basic Information: Babu is a 4 year old unaltered German Shepherd. He was given as a gift to owner two years ago. Babu has allergies which causes him to have hair loss. Owner surrenders Babu due to him having allergies. Social Life & Personality: Babu lived with 2 adults and a 17 years old. Owner stated he is relaxed, playful, and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Owner states Babu is relaxed towards big dogs but animals that are smaller than him he barks and lunges. He is mostly indoors and activity level is high. Owner describes Babu is playful, confident, and excitable. Behavior Issues: Babu has never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. Owner never touched his food bowl while Babu was eating. Owner can take toys or treats away from his mouth in a playful manner. When time to take baths he will try to run but tolerant afterwards. Babu barks when unfamiliar people approaches the house or family member. For a new family know: Babu is trained to use the bathroom outdoors and goes for walks three times a day. He likes to ply with any rubber toys and does well in a crate. He likes to follow owner around the house and is well behaved when home alone. He eats dry food and sleeps anywhere comfortable. Upon intake: Babu was anxious and whining. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Babu previously lived with 2 adults and a 17 years old. The owner stated Babu is relaxed, playful, and tolerant towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Babu is relaxed towards big dogs but animals that are smaller than him he barks and lunges. It was reported by the owner he has a high activity level, house trained, crate trained and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Babu as playful, confident, and excitable. At intake it was reported Babu was anxious and whining, he did allow all handling. During SAFER Babu came into the assessment room anxious and whining, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Babu was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food item Babu freezes and growls when attempting to remove his head out of the food bowl, toy item he settle close firm, loose and wiggly and rawhide item he takes away body between him and the handler. Due to some concerns on resources the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Babu is sexually motivated and continues to attempt to mount after correction.
