05/16/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/16/15 18:01 Blue(A1036589) is an approximately 8 month old APBT. Blue is Bella’s() daughter. She is being surrendered because the owner has too many pets and the landlord is only allowing them to keep one. Blues last vet visit was in 2014. She has no known health issues. The owner was made aware of the three possible outcomes of adoption, rescue organizations, or because of health and behavior issues possible humane euthanasia. Around strangers, Blue barks but is friendly and outgoing. Around children, Blue is relaxed and tolerant and loves to play. She plays exuberantly with adults and with the other dogs in the home. She has not bitten any other animal or person. Blue goes potty both indoors and outdoors. She barks alot in the home especially when she hears loud noises. She does chew on furniture and other items in the home. She is not bothered when you touch her food bowl and wants to play and chase when you take away her toy. She loves baths and sleeps on the bed with the owner or children. The owner describes Blue as friendly, confident, independent, affectionate, and has a very high activity level. She demands lots of attention and loves to be pet. SHe follows the family around and wants to be in the same room as them. She is also very well behaved when left alone in the home. She loves to go on brisk walks and pulls hard on the leash. She does not know too many commands. When Blue was with her mother and her owners, she had a loose wiggly body and wagging tail while I pet her, scanned her (positive-should trace to owner), and switched her leashes. When I brought her to the back, she faced the door and whined. She allowed me to collar her and put her in her kennel. She barked once inside.
05/19/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: You’ll want to take care of this little Blue buttercup the minute you lay eyes on her small, wriggly, beautiful self, and watch her move from timid at first meeting, to rewarding your attention with kisses and love and hugs. Surrendered by her owner along with her mama Bella because of landlord issues, the already-spayed Blue aced her behavior test, scoring the highest honors with her attitude towards dogs, people, food, treats, you name it. In her former home, she also apparently “followed the family around and wanted to be in the same room with them.” When I read that, I couldn’t help but be a tad jealous that such a wonderful creature might always be in tow. Blue’s awesome with other dogs, beyond compare with people, and if you follow her on a leash (she could use a little help here), she’ll follow you from room to room and beyond!
05/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blue walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Blue was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Blue was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Blue was surrender to us. According to her previous owner around strangers, Blue barks but is friendly and outgoing. Around children, Blue is relaxed and tolerant and loves to play. She plays exuberantly with adults and with the other dogs in the home. She is not bothered when you touch her food bowl and wants to play and chase when you take away her toy. The owner describes Blue as friendly, confident, independent, affectionate, and has a very high activity level”. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. Blue is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2.
