He has a high activity level and can be described as playful, excitable, affectionate and friendly. Behavior Issues: When someone touches Billy’s food bowl, takes a bone while he’s eating, or takes his toys while he’s playing or pushes him off the furniture Billy is friendly. When he is given a bath or has his nails trimmed he isnt bothered. If Billy has his coat brushed, held/restrained, or disturbed while sleeping he is friendly. He is also freindly when and unfamiliar person approaches the house or him. For a New Family to Know: Billy knows sit, come and down on command. For exercise he was used to slow walks on the leash about 4 times a week. He likes to play with balls, stuffed and squeaky toys. He likes to play fetch and tug. He has never been crate trained. 08/07/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Billy was a dream to walk. As you can see, he’s a big guy and only a year old, so I didn’t expect him to be an easy walk. I was seriously surprised! He peed a small lake right outside the shelter, so it seems likely he’s housetrained. After that, he trotted along slowly but steadily, only getting distracted once when he sniffed out a nearby bag of potato chips. Happens to me too. Billy is a hunk of burning love, stopping at a bench for me to give him a little back rub and head scratch. You’ve got to feel this guy’s velvety dark gray fur – soft like a puppy. Come see Billy today at the Manhattan ACC! Another volunteer writes: From his huggable figure to his ear-to-ear smile and all the chilled-out good nature in between, big Billy is a boy who lingers in my heart long after our time together is over. A slow and steady walker who’s happiest just hanging out with his human and canine friends, if this charming guy were any more laid-back he’d be flat on the ground… oh wait, he is! Billy is so easy to handle and on leash he takes care of his business first then meanders through the yard before drinking some water and flopping down ‘froggie doggie’ style to cool off, rolling over to allow belly-rubbing access and offering me sweet kisses in return. Surrendered to our care due to the NYCHA ban, Billy (and his little lookalike sister, Lilly A1046564) arrived with nothing but praise from their former owner. We’re told that Billy was used to spending time with young children and is relaxed and respectful of them, with other dogs he’s playful and friendly, gentle yet exuberant, and he has no guarding issues with either food or toys. Billy knows commands for sit, come and down, he’s well-behaved when left home alone, has no objections to being pampered with a bath, brushing or pedicure and when it’s time for sleep he loves to snuggle up on his person’s bed. Billy has been nothing but sweet during his stay with us, hugging and smooching since the moment he walked through the door, and he’ll make a wonderful pet for almost any kind of home. Big Billy means Big Love, come get your lifetime supply today!
