08/05/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Surrendered with her brother Billy (A1046563) due to NYCHA restrictions, Lilly is a bit shy as her world is turned upside down. She’s without a home, a family and her brother all of which she had just yesterday, and she’s figuring it all out. She’s loveable and quiet according to her former owner, relaxed, playful and respectful around young children as well as other dogs. Although she has a high activity level she wasn’t taken out much and will need regular walks to reinforce her housetraining skills. Lilly knows ‘sit’, ‘come’ and ‘down’, likes to play fetch and tug, and doesn’t mind baths or nail trims. She’s well behaved when left home alone and likes to sleep in her owner’s bed. Standing up in her kennel letting me know she needed to go out, she showed off her housetraining skills the moment we were out the door. Her leash manners are lovely, her coat shiny and healthy looking and her weight perfect for her size. As we stood at a corner waiting for the light to change she stood up against me, paws on my waist for a quick snuggle. I was honored!!! Off leash in a pen she comes when called, but isn’t ready for playtime yet. My treats are sniffed and rejected as perhaps not to her liking. Putting her head in my lap for some petting, even while still shy and stressed, shows me that this gentle girl is looking for a new friend. Will you be her new forever friend?
