07/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Wiggles came to our center as a stray. He was very friendly during intake, loose, wiggly body. He greeted everyone in the lobby the same way. He pulled very hard on leash for his relief walk. Wiggles allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft, tail wag. He leaned in during Sensitivity item, ears back, tail wagging. Wiggles was distracted and unresponsive to the assessor during Tag game, running ahead and panting, focused on other stimuli. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, licking assessor’s hand. Wiggles allowed Food to be moved away, and lifted his head from Food bowl when assess-a-hand was applied to his cheek. He settled quickly and had a firm grip on Toy, with loose, wiggly body. Wiggles settled with Rawhide, body stiff when approached by assess-a-hand. Wiggles plays rough and rowdy with other dogs during off leash playgroup. Due to his size and strength, the Behavior Team feels Wiggles would do best with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners, body awareness and focus. Wiggles may also benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation the forms of walks, runs, exercise and play. He may also benefit from learning the command ‘drop it’ and trade up games, for any potential possessive behavior that may manifest in the home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game with coaxing. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not pull back paw, licks hand. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. dog-tog:Off leash Wiggles greets appropriately.
