A staff member writes: Meet Tommy: Tommy’s former owner described him as loving and mischievous. Tommy may be tense or nervous in the shelter surroundings, but hopefully with some behavior modification this little fluffball can become a lifelong companion to his new human!
PROFILE:
Basic Info: Tommy is a four year old Pomeranian. He was purchased from a pet store 4 years ago. He is described as a loving and mischievous little dog.
Social Life and Personality: Tommy has never spent any time with children or cats. He had two other Pomeranians in his former home. They did not interact a lot thought. Tommy might do best in a single pet home.
Behavior History: Tommy frequently urinates indoors. He knows to go outside to defecate but he does urinate indoors. He has recently bitten his former owner. Tommy doesn’t like it when his food bowl is touched when he is eating. He will also growl if you try to give him a bath.
For a New Family to Know: Tommy knows how to sit on command. For exercise Tommy is used to at least three long walks per day. He loves any shape of stuffed toy. He has never been crate trained and has never been left alone at home. Tommy is used to a mix of wet and dry food. He also really likes homemade chicken.
Behavior During Intake: This dog bit its owner less than 24 hours ago. During the intake process the dog would not allow me to get near it without growling. I attempted to put a temp leash on the dog and it snapped, attempting to bite. When the ACO came in the dog also snapped at him. This dog would not allow handling of any kind.
