07/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1042684 Titan was brought into the care center with limited information, but it was noted that Titan bit the previous owner when he was being separated during an altercation with another dog in the previous home. During SAFER Titan was not very attention seeking, but he was sociable towards the assessor, and maintained a relaxed body posture for all hall handling items. During the tag interaction Titan was distracted, but with coaxing he followed the assessor at the end of the leash. During the resources portion of the assessment Titan was a bit resistant when pushed out of the food bowl, but with a bit of pressure applied to he lifted his head and allowed the food to be removed without issue. When engaged with toys and rawhide items, Titan had a loose body posture and relinquished the toy item, but not the rawhide. During the dog-dog interaction Titan rushed in quickly towards the helper dog with his body stiff. The department feels Titan would be best suited for an experienced adopter, and it is recommended that Titan go to a home with no other dogs. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with his tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
