PROFILE:
Teddy Bear is a white male miniature Fox Terrier who was surrendered at ACC today. Teddy Bear is approximately 7 years old and he is not neutered. He received his last veterinarian visit in November and is due for a new physical health exam. Teddy Bear is described as being smart and protective.
Teddy Bear is affectionate relaxed playful and tolerant when he is around children. He will interact with children in a gentle and respectful manner. He is also tolerant and respectful when he is around other dogs interacting with them in a respectful and somewhat rough manner. He has not been soialized with cats at this point. He is house trained and does not have accidents in the house. He is an an indoor dog with a medium activity level. Teddy Bear has been described as being playful confident excitable affectionate mellow independent and friendly. He is however nervous and will panic when he hears loud noises such as thunder lightning or fireworks.
Teddy Bear is not bothered when you try to take his food toys or treats away. He is also not bothered when he is having his fur brushed or when he is being held back or disturbed from his sleep. He has never had his nails trimmed and he is not allowed on the furniture. He will become alert and will bark and growl if a stranger approached his home or a family member. He does not know any commands and likes to play with squeaky toys.
Teddy Bear will need to learn how to walk down the stairs for his walks. He is usually carried down the stairs before he is let outside for his walks. He likes to go for slow walks and will use the bathroom on the grass cement or gravel. He is also well behaved when he is taken to the dog park interacting with other dogs. He eats dry food once a day and will snack on various meat flavored peanut butter and vegetable flavored treats.
Teddy Bear will stay in the same room with his owner when they are together. He will stay and sleep in his favorite spot which is his dog bed. During the Intake process he was calmm and well behaved. He allowed imself to be held picked up collared and photographed with no issues. Teddy Bear was friendly interacting with people he came into contact with allowing himself to be petted and he also sniffed them.

Teddy Bear previously lived with 2 adults and 1 child. The owner stated Teddy Bear is affectionate, relaxed, playful, and tolerant when he is around children, he will interact with children in a gentle and respectful manner. The owner mentioned Teddy is house trained and has a medium activity level.
At intake Teddy Bear was calm, friendly and well behaved towards the counselors, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Teddy Bear came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly, social and attention seeking towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Teddy Bear was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Teddy Bear was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Teddy Bear appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Food: 1. No interest.
Toy 1: No interest.
Rawhide: 1. No interest.
Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Teddy Bear is social and greets the other dogs politely.
PLAYGROUP: When off leash with other dogs, Teddy Bear is social and greets the other dogs politely. 8/19 update: Teddy Bear is tolerant and may greet other dogs briefly. 8/20 update: Teddy Bear greets and continues to sniff the other dogs but is more interested in exploring his surroundings and seeking attention from handlers.
