08/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1047767 Melly was brought into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on her past behaviors in a home. At intake it was noted that Melly was friendly with everyone she came into contact with, and was easily handled by an admissions counselor. During SAFER Melly maintained a relaxed body posture when interacting with the assessor, and allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Melly was also relaxed during the tag interaction, and calmly followed the assessor at the end of the leash. During the resources portion of the assessment Melly was not interested in any of the items, and during the dog-dog interaction Melly did not approach the helper dog. Melly appears to be social and has not shown any behavioral concerns while in the care center. The department feels Melly can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
