07/05/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A smiling butterball full of sweetness and snuggles, Storm is the exact opposite of her dark name and I can’t help thinking that Sunshine would be a better fit for this beautiful blond! She’s eager to make friends with everyone she meets whether they walk on two legs or four, super soft and easy to handle in almost every situation and her manners are truly top notch. She has a wonderfully calm walking style, shows off an obedient ‘sit,’ and her penchant for rolling over to beg for belly rubs is beyond adorable. Storm’s only grumpy moment comes when it’s time to return to her den, no surprise from an independent girl used to having the run of the house and sleeping on her own doggie bed. Her previous owners purchased Storm as a baby but now landlord issues mean she’s lost the only family she’s ever known, and while her spirits remain high, it’s clear that life in a kennel is not for her. I’m sure she misses the company of her Poodle and 3 and 6-year-old human siblings and all the playtime and off-leash freedom of her former home. When asked what things they love best about Storm, her former owners replied ‘everything!’ then went on to tell us how she loves to run around, play fetch and chew branches, and that in addition to ‘sit’ she knows commands for ‘come’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘give paw’. Her play style with both children and adults is said to be relaxed and gentle, she’s well-behaved when left home alone and totally cool with being brushed, bathed or having her nails trimmed. In short, Storm is a star! Already spayed and ready to leave for her new home as soon as you are, this golden girl is ready and waiting to light up your life — ask to meet her today!
07/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Storm walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. She was calm and relaxed during look and the sensitivity but she became stiff and uncomfortable during paw handling. We used the flank squeeze instead and she does not respond to the touch. Storm was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Storm was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Storm around strangers is friendly and outgoing. Storm has lived with a 3yr & a 6yr old who she was relaxed, playful and respectful. Her play style with adults, children and other dogs is gentle. She is relaxed &and playful with the Poodle that she lived with. Storm hasn’t been around cats. The owner stated that Storm is friendly when he touches her food bowl, toys or treats unless it’s a stranger then she will growl”. Storm during the assessment was bit uncomfortable during the paw item and because of his owner profile the behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food 1: No interest. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
