10/16/15 17:53 Basic Information Sheila is a 10 year old spayed German Sheppard that came in with litter mate Sheila. Owner stated that he could no longer keep them because he is moving out of state and his new place doesn’t allow pets. He got them as a gift from a friend when they were puppies and has had them since. Sheila has no known injuries or health problems and his last vet visit was in 2013. However, she will undergo a complete medical examination. Social Life & Personality Sheila does not like children. She has no experience playing with cats and is respectful to other dogs but does not play or interact with them. She is house-trained and is kept outdoors only. She has a high activity and owner described her as affectionate, independent, mellow and confident. Behavior Issues Owner stated that Sheila has no behavior issues and has never bitten or scratched another person or animal. She isn’t bothered with having his food bowl touched or having objects or toys taken from him. She is friendly during baths and isn’t bothered when owner restrains her. For a New Family to Know Sheila knows the commands sit and stay. Fore exercise, she receives play time in the yard only and plays with dog bones for toys. She does not receive off leash walks and the yard is completely gated off so she doesn’t come in contact with passersby. When left alone in the yard she is well behaved and plays with Sparky. She eats dry food only and sleeps in the yard. She is afraid of rain and thunder.

10/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1051223 Sheila previously lived with 1 adult and another dog (German shepherd). The owner stated Sheila does not like children, but is respectful to other dogs and do not play or interact with them. The owner mentioned Shelia is house-trained, well behaved when home alone and has a high activity level. The owner describes Sheila as affectionate, independent, mellow and confident. At intake it was reported Sheila was nervous and barking in the lobby, Sheila was muzzled and not handle during this time. During SAFER Sheila came into the assessment room nervous and anxious, not all handle items were able to be conducted as Sheila freezes and lip curls at the assessor on the Look item. During this portion of the assessment on food item Sheila allowed her head to be removed out of the food bowl, she showed no interest in toy and rawhide items. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Sheila approach the helper dog with her tail down and body soft. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog freezes and lip curls. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail down, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
