10/18/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/18/15 18:54hrs Brooklyn is a 1 year old female American Staffordshire. She lived with her family her whole life but is being surrendered because her owner lost his home and is unable to keep her at the new residence. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Brooklyn is described as affectionate and energetic. She has lived in a home with more than 6 children aged 6 years old and up. Brooklyn would allow the children to pet her and even try to ride on her back. She is accustomed to being around Shih Tzu’s. Brooklyn would play and wrestle with the dog. When she is walked outside and notices other dogs, she becomes alert and will bark at the other dog. Her owner stated that she normally growls at females dogs on the street. BEHAVIOR Brooklyn isn’t bothered by her food being touched or taken from her while she is eating. She will try to block the food with her legs but won’t react. Brooklyn is accustomed to being bathed at least 2x a month. Her owner stated that someone would have to get into the tub and she would follow. Brooklyn barks when someone knocks at the door but greets visitors with a wagging tail and attempts to jump up onto them. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Brooklyn knows the command ‘sit” along with sign of a closed fist. She is accustomed to being walked at least 3x a day but will relieve herself on newspaper if she isn’t walked on time. She likes to play wrestle and will softly play bite with her owner but without breaking skin. Brooklyn is well behaved when left alone. She is accustomed to eating wet and dry dog food. She likes to sleep in bed with her owner. DURING INTAKE Brooklyn displayed a soft body, wagging tail while approaching the Admissions Counselor. She was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.
10/21/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Brooklyn is a family dog who lost her family when a fire burned down their home. She is understandably stressed in the shelter but once she warms up she’s a lover beyond compare. Indeed, her former owner says she used to live with six children age six and up (some would try to ride her), as well as a small dog with whom she romped. At the shelter, Brooklyn is so snuggly with her beloveds that there is a “secret” video circulating of her with the subject line: “Warning: graphic make-out video.” Brooklyn alerts to dogs on the street but in playgroup has proven a lovely member of the community, and we sure love her, too. Please, won’t you consider welcoming her into your home, forever? Another volunteer writes: Wearing a gorgeously-groomed tan coat, her face has grey accents — my favorite color combination! In no time she’s been made a ‘helper dog’ in group play. We’re told she lived with a Shih Tzu and play-wrestled with him. She also play-wrestled with her owner and will softly “play bite” as part of the game, never breaking skin, it was all part of the play. Brooklyn knows ‘sit’ (with the hand signal of a closed fist), she’s walked 3x a day but is newspaper trained if she can’t get out, is well behaved when left home alone and likes to sleep in bed with her person. Brooklyn was bathed 2x a month and someone needs to get in the tub and she’ll follow. Seriously, how cute is that?! It’s no surprise that Brooklyn score high in her behavior assessment and is waiting for a new family to discover her charms. Volunteers and staff already have, now it’s up to you. Ask to meet this proven family dog today.
