10/17/15 15:55 Basic Information: Shadow is a 5 year old unaltered pit-bull mix. She was found as a stray 5 years ago. Owner stated she had multiple litters. Owner surrenders Shadow due to personal reasons Social Life and Personality: Shadow lived with one adult and been around a 14 year old teenager. Owner stated she is relaxed and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Shadow lived with another dog which is her daughter Sasha A1055160. Owner stated they never been separated and appears to be bonded. Owner stated Shadow seen another small dog years ago and attacked the small dog. Owner believes she doesn’t get along with other dogs and her behavior is unknown towards cats. She mostly indoors and activity level is low. Owner describes Shadow as playful, mellow and independent. Behavior: Shadow never bitten a human but has bitten another dog two years ago. Owner stated she ran out the house and attacked the small dog with no warning. Owner stated Shadow has to eat separate from other dogs because she will growl if another dog touch her food but she allow owner to take thing out of her mouth. She’s tolerant of taking baths and being brushed. She barks at unfamiliar people approaching the house or family member to alert owner. For a New Family to Know: Shadow is trained to use the bathroom outdoors in the yard. The only command she knows is treats especially with treats. She will play with toys but will chew them up. Shadow never been crate trained but is well behaved when home alone. Shadow likes to be in the same room as owner or rarely seeks attention. Shadow eats wet and dry food mix called Alpo and sleep anywhere comfortable. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Shadow was docile and relaxed. She scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Shadow previously lived with 1 adult, another dog and has been around a 14 year old teenager. The owner stated she is relaxed and tolerant towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Shadow lived with another dog. It was reported by the owner Shadow seen another small dog years ago and attacked the small dog when she ran out the house and didn’t give no warning. The owner describes Shadow as playful, mellow and independent. The owner stated Shadow is house trained, has a low activity level and is well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Shadow was docile and relaxed, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Shadow came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, social, and she would whine for attention, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Shadow was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Shadow was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner Shadow does not do well with small dogs, so the behavior department feels its best she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no small dogs in the house hold. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Shadow greeted the helper dog but was uninterested in any further social engagement.

Shadow greeted the helper dog but was uninterested in any further social engagement. 10/23 update: Shadow greets the other dog briefly and will offer correction when the other dog attempts to mount. 10/29 update: Shadow greets briefly but seems uncomfortable with prolonged interaction. She will offer correction when play is solicited. 10/31 update: Shadow is anxious but greets both males and females politely. Eventually she may become more anxious and redirect her anxiety onto the other dogs, growling at them when they approach her at the exit. 11/02 update: Shadow explores the yard and greets both a male and female dog. 11/03 update: Shadow may greet the other dog briefly but appears a bit uncomfortable. She reacts appropriately when another dog redirects and escalates when interacting with her.
