09/12/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes; I have a soft spot for Sailor, a middle aged gentleman with one blue eye. He must have been quite a catch in his prime but a likely rough life took a toll on him. He could use a few more pounds, wears so many calluses, suffers from an eye discharge and a host of other things here and there. Still, he is one good looking guy who is gaining strength since his arrival at the care center. He knows his friends and gets up at once from his blanket when he sees me. Leashed in no time, he strolls around the block quite nicely, marking his territory on the way. He has an eye for the ladies and when one strikes his heart with her arrow..he just turns around and follows her on the double… Free in a pen, Sailor inspects the area, salutes another dog sniffing our gate and gets very interested when i open my bag of goodies. Sailor is sitting now, his left paw up, literally begging for raostbeef. He is greedy but his behavioral evaluation that is excellent showed us that he is not guarding his possessions. I really like Sailor. He could use a better life, some fun and the love of a master. Will you be the one proving to him that a human heart has so much to offer. Sailor is at the Manhattan Care Center. Another volunteer writes: Quietly imploring in his kennel, Sailor almost wills me to stop to take him for a walk. Whatever soft ‘come hither’ look he used works and out we go. His tail wags softly, he walks nicely on leash with a lovely step/glide. In his prime he must have been a real heart throb as despite some issues he’s very handsome and his soft sweet personality is evident. He sits for a treat, raises one paw as a potential shake, or maybe simply ‘hi’, and takes his treat gently. He plays with a plush toy momentarily, comes when called and is happy for some petting. Sailor needs some TLC and the lucky person who makes the investment in him will reap the reward of a loving, quiet and lovely companion. It’s such a win win, won’t you come meet Sailor today?
