08/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1047755 Nittle came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home. Upon arrival to the care center, it was reported that Nittle allowed all handling, and was also tolerant of all handling during his medical exam. During SAFER Nittle was social, and allowed petting, but due to his medical condition SAFER handling items could not be fairly conducted at this time. During the resources portion of the assessment Nittle was easily pushed out of the food bowl, but showed no interest in the toys or rawhides. During the dog-dog interaction Nittle was relaxed when greeting the helper dog, and appeared to be interested in interacting, but was not playful. Nittle appears to be very social and can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience, but due to his medical condition we are unable to perform a full behavior assessment, so we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can address the medical needs and then re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
