A volunteer writes: Me and Martin sittin’ in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Yes, I literally sang that song while sitting on the bench in the yard with Martin, stealing a kiss here and there. He’s the kind of dog that takes me back to my childhood. Like a first crush, I love everything about him. He looks like a sausage. He’s thick in the middle, and though his fur is a bit shabby, his coat gives him the appearance of wearing a tuxedo. His teeth have a tendency to peek out at the most unexpected moments, and even get stuck, giving the most adorable underbite. And when you approach his kennel, even if you don’t say anything, he starts head tilting with the anticipation of becoming your friend. And to top it all off, he has a sparkling personality! He’s the cuddliest guy around, making himself right at home next to me on the bench. At one point, he burrowed his head into my lap, placing one paw gently on my leg and just heaved a sigh of relief. Though he’s almost 80 pounds, he feels most comfortable draped over my lap, and I am happy to have him there. Martin’s previous owner tells us that he is respectful of kids, dogs, even fish! He likes to take baths and knows the commands “sit, shake and give paw.” Like I said, what’s not to love about this boy? Come meet Martin—I guarantee you will be shouting his accolades too!
