07/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/09/15 16:08 Victor, Hayes, and Nina were brought to BxAC by the super of a building after their owner moved out and left them behind 1 week ago. The super reports that the dogs are all friendly. Victor appears thin with all of his ribs protruding. He ate food quickly upon arrival. Hayes had a lot of masses all over his body. Nina has a lot of patches of hairloss and red skin. She ate food quickly upon arrival. All three of the dogs had soft bodies, and wagging tails during handling (scan (-), collar, switching leashes, positioning for pictures) and their mouths were usually open. They approached and leaned into us while we pet them. They took treats gently. They allowed us to pick them up and put them in their kennels and didn’t resist.
07/10/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When someone is sooooo wiggle butt to see me there is no way I am not meeting this dog. He wiggles, he waggles, he wiggle waggles, and smiles and I’m in love before I even open his gate. He’s gorgeous, elegant, long legged, a fabulous coat, and that slightly graying muzzle of wisdom, experience, and dare I say it, it’s sexy! It speaks to many seasons past, and his energy and great personality speaks to many seasons to hopefully come with a new family. Seriously housetrained he peed and pooped several times ( I know, TMI), and he pulls hard on the leash. Off leash he explores our pen, comes when I call him with a gently wagging tail, sits when I ask him to and takes treats gently. He’s so sweet and easy, and since he just joined us as I write this, he’s still looking around for his people. He lived with two other dogs, and seems to love all, happily and appropriately greeting all nearby. Awesome Victor is looking for a new family to take care of, and if you’re lucky and get there first, it could be you!
07/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Victor came to our center with two other dogs after being abandoned in an apartment when their owner moved out. He had a soft body and wagging tail upon intake, allowing all handling. He approached and leaned into admissions counselor, taking treats gently. Victor pulled hard on leash for his relief walk. He was social and interactive in the SAFER assessor room. Victor held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, body soft, wagging tail, lip lick. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity, mouth open, wagging. Victor was distracted and unresponsive to assessor during Tag game, but approached at the end of game when coaxed. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, wagging tail. Victor lifted his head out of the Food bowl with a bit of pressure from assess-a-hand. He had no interest in Toy or Rawhide. Victor approached helper dog at an appropriate pace, ears forward, tail above spine level, body relaxed. The Behavior Team feels Victor would do well in an Average home. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and focus. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture, mouth open. Tag: 2.
