A volunteer writes:
Jumarah…a name that reminds me of “The 1001 Nights Tales”…Exotic and  mysterious…I am so intrigued…I must meet her…Jumarah is in an arrival kennel, barking a storm. She is very upset.A number of attempts have been made to house her inside a large  kennel but she has refused to enter any ward. One has to know that “baby” Jumarah never saw a dog in her life. The care center is much too much for her sensitive soul. We managed to take her out and walk her slowly through the yard where she rested for a few hours inside a large pen. She pushed away her bowl of food(may be not her favorite brand…) but took after some hesitation roast beef from my hand. She kept that wary look on her face and was unsure as  to accept or not my  caresses.  She sniffed through the fence a few nice dogs, males and females I presented to her and seemed fine with them. She emitted a soft growl when another pooch neared her food. She eliminated after a long while . At times,  she stood on her hinds to scan her surroundings. We came face to face, through the fence. Biped Jumarah is taller than me….She is gorgeous, healthy and well groomed . Her eyes are beautiful. She has been very well cared for. She lived with small children, was respectful of them and occasionally played with them. She seems to have had a very close relationship with her owner who describes her   as “friendly and outgoing as well as very playful”. Black and White….This does not come as a surprise…. Do you know the story of the Princess and the Pea? Well, the Princess felt the pea through 100 mattresses and woke up covered with  bruises. I would have slept like a bear   with only one mattress…Jumanah is a CC and   like the Princess    in the tale…is too delicate despite her big size to face shelter’s life.  She needs out…at the speed of light…Please, consider this young beauty who came with quite excellent recommendations but who will need some training and socailization. Jumarah is at the Manhattan Care Center.
