07/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jee gives a low growl and barks hard when the handler approaches to the kennel but when Jee sees the leash he approaches with a soft body language. Once he is out Jee pulls a bit on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Jee was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He growled and bit the assess-a-hand during the food bowl test. Jee was not interested in toys or rawhide. Jee was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Jee is friendly playful around strangers. Jee has lived with two children ages 3 yrs. old; he is relaxed and playful around children and adults. Jee has not lived with other animals. The owner stated that he doesn’t mind when someone moves his food, treats while he is eating or when someone takes his toys away.” Jee did not show any concern during the handling part of the assessment but he shows some concern during the food bowl test. Jee may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address his food guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
