07/20/2015 WEB MEMO
A Staff Member Writes: “Meet Trout. This beautiful pup has been named after a simple and unassuming fish, which actually fits his personality. Trout is a little bit older than the rest of the pups here, but he is certainly just as lovable. When I take him out of his kennel for a walk he is calm and grateful. On our walk, he does his business right away which is usually a sign of housetraining-AWESOME! On our walk, he pulls at the leash a little bit- he definitely has a lust for life and enjoys the great outdoors. Trout would be the perfect companion to go on long hike or go fishing. He is not a super love-bug but once I asked him “Wanna give me a kiss Trout?” and he turned around and licked my face. It was the cutest thing ever. Please come meet this handsome boy today!”
07/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Trout came to us as a stray on 7/8/15. Upon intake it was reported that Trout had soft body language and was easy to handle. He was very interested in exploring his surroundings when entering the behavior room. Trout allowed the assessor the conduct all tactile assessment items when entering the behavior room. He was distracted and focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag interaction. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Trout showed no interest in the toy or rawhide items on this portion of the assessment. The behavior department believes that Trout can go to a home with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
