A volunteer writes(as told by Jazzy): Once upon a time I could dance like all get out, so I was named Jazzy. I’m old now, have arthritis and move slowly. I can still waltz a bit, but not for too long before I need to lie down and rest. I’m housetrained, so happy to go outside to do my thing, enjoy a nice slow walk and then settle down for a belly rub and some kisses. I’m a pleasantly plump so there’s more of me to love and I love to love. I made a new friend today, her name is Volunteer, and we snuggled and kissed and she gave me a belly rub right there on the sidewalk! It was nice. Some people stopped to meet me and I wagged my tail “pleased to make your acquaintance”. I love people and love that they want to meet me. I’m old now and with my age comes some of the indignities…..I move very slowly, have lots of skin tags, but everyone tells me that I’m very beautiful. I am. I’m still pretty smart and like to watch what’s going on in the world, even if I can’t participate in all of it. I love treats (you can tell from my figure) and take them gently. I’m hoping for a soft bed in my retirement home…..someone to stroke my head and tell me I’m beautiful, and of course, give me a belly rub. Let’s be “jazzy” together in any way we can.

PROFILE 12/12/15
Basic Information
Jazzy is an 11 year old spayed female Staffordshire that came in as a differed intake. Owner stated that he has had Jazzy since she was a puppy however he was deployed twice and she was in other peoples care at those times. He can no longer have her because he lives in an apartment with no elevator and she has a very hard time walking let alone going up and down the stairs.
Social Life & Personality
Jazzy is relaxed, playful and respectful with children and other dogs. She has not interacted with cats. She is house trained and is kept mostly indoors. She has a low activity level and owner described her as confident, affectionate, mellow, independent and friendly.
Behavior Issues
Jazzy displays no signs of behavior issues. She isn’t bothered with having her food bowl touched while eating or having objects or treats taken away from her. She is also unbothered by baths or having her nails trimmed. She is friendly with strangers and house visitors. During her initial exam, she was loose bodied and allowed all handling.
For a New Family to Know
Jazzy knows the commands sit and stay. For exercise, she received slow walks both on and off leash twice a day. When off leash, she stays close to the owner’s side. When owner is home, Jazzy tends to be in the same room as him. When left home alone she is well behaved. Jazzy eats dry food only once a day. She sleeps on various comforters on the floor.
