12/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Heidi came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Heidi was tense and snapped at the counselor when trying to pick her up, she allowed limited handling. During SAFER Heidi came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Heidi tried to bite at the assessor on the paw squeeze item. She displayed no interest in the item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is tense and fearful, her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Heidi greets politely and engages briefly in play. She offers correction for pushy behavior.
12/21/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
