12/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Vera Wong came into our center after a member of the public found her as a stray running in the street. Since she was almost hit by a car the Finder brought her home and then brought her in. She appeared frightened in the shelter. Vera Wong was timid during her initial medical exam, would attempt to nip if picked up. Vera Wong required a bit of time, going slowly in order to collar for playgroup. She walked into SAFER Assessment room calmly, but was uncomfortable with up-close handling. Vera Wong head flipped and tried to bite during Look item, so the remaining tactile portions of the assessment were skipped. She showed no interest in Toy. When off leash with other dogs, Vera Wong shows interest in greeting then wanders the yard. Due to attempting to bite during medical exam and SAFER assessment, Vera Wong must be placed with a New Hope partner. She would do best with a slow approach/slow introduction so she can become comfortable. It should be noted that Vera Wong arrived severely matted and was groomed while in our care, so this may contribute to her discomfort with touch. 5. Dog head flips and tries to bite. Toy 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Vera Wong shows interest in greeting then wanders the yard.
