07/27/15 16:26 Came in with: A0830637-Remi Basic Information: Guinness is a 7 year old spayed American Pit Bull Terrier. He was given to the owner as a gift when Guinness was a puppy. He is being surrendered because the owner currently is searching for a new home. Guinness has been to the vet recently and does not have any known health problems or injuries. Social Life and Personality: Guinness has been socialized with children aged from infants and older. Guinness is relaxed, tolerant, and gentle during the play with the children. Guinness has lived with another dog his hold life and is attached to him. They are very affectionate and tolerant with each other and exuberant during play. He has not been socialized with cats to know his behavior with them. He is house trained and does not have bathroom accidents in the home. He has been kept mostly indoors and has a medium activity level. The owner describes Guinness as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, shy, mellow, independent, and friendly. Behavior: The owner says that Guinness is not bothered when someone takes away or touches his food bowl, bones, treats, rawhides, or toys. He is not bothered when pushed of the furniture, given a bath, or when having his nails trimmed. He enjoys being brushed and pet. He does not mind when held or restrained. He barks when there is unfamiliar people approach his home but stops if his owner invites them in the home. He is not bothered when unfamiliar people approach his family. For a New Family to Know: Guinness knows the commands sit, quiet, out and stop. He is used to leashed walks and playing a fenced in yard. He is let outside at least twice a day. He does not play much with toys. He likes to play fetch with balls. He has not been crate trained. When he is home with his owner he usually is lying in his favorite spot. He is well behaved when left in the home and yard. The owner has never had Guinness off leash in an open park. He is nervous of thunder and tries to hide during storms. He is used to eating a bowl of Pedigree dry dog food once a day. His favorite treats are milkbones. He sleeps on a blanket on the floor. Intake Behavior: Guinness greeted the counselor by jumping up and soliciting attention. He allowed all handling and did not show aggressive behaviors. He began to whine when separated from his sister.

The previous owner states Guiness has been socialized with children aged from infants and older, and was said to be relaxed, tolerant, and gentle during the play with them. Guiness lived with another dog, and it was reported that they are very affectionate and tolerant with each other and exuberant during play. He was said to have a medium activity level, and the owner describes Guiness as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, shy, mellow, independent, and friendly. It was noted that he is house trained and does not have bathroom accidents in the home. The owner also noted Guiness is not bothered when someone takes away or touches his food bowl, bones, treats, rawhides, or toys, and he is tolerant of all grooming. At intake it was noted that Guiness greeted the counselor by jumping up and soliciting attention. During SAFER Guiness was social and maintained a relaxed body posture during the assessment. He allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and was relaxed during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Guiness was not interested in any of the items. Guiness appears to be social and has not displayed any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels Guiness can go to a home with an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs Guiness allows greeting then ignores the other dogs afterward.
