05/11/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ginger looked weak and was shaking in her kennel. She had just been brought up to the care center. Fourteen years old…. and all alone. I carried her like a very precious and delicate baby in my arms. She was trembling. We sat on a blanket in the yard. Ginger was not doing much. Then she started ambulating, slowly but surely. I am not sure of her hearing but her sight is still good enough for her to go around. She met with a big dog and backed off when he started to bark. She accepted my caresses and even a bow around her neck. When I took out roastbeef, Ginger became quite alert and gulped nicely a fair amount of meat. I could feel her little teeth on my fingers. Ginger is elderly…still quite girly despite her age. She was left in our care for us to find the right and compassionate new owner who understands, empathizes, loves and knows how to handle older chaps. Ginger is at the Manhattan Care center, waiting for her hero.
