07/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Felicity came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on her past behaviors in a home. Upon intake Felicity was reported to be exuberant for introduction, and loose for all handling. It was also noted that Felicity appeared to be treat motivated and knows the command sit. During SAFER Felicity was very sociable and attention seeking. She maintained a loose body posture for all handling as well as the tag interaction, but was a bit distracted. During the resources portion of the assessment Felicity was easy to handle when engaged with the food, allowing the assessor to easily push her out of the food bowl. She was also easy to handle when engaged with the toys and rawhide items, and relinquished the toy to the assessor but not the rawhides. Felicity appears to be sociable and has not displayed any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels Felicity can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of do experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft and a bit distracted. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the rawhide, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: Off leash Felicity is initially a bit nervous and stiff but does greet appropriately.
