Ebony was found in a yard that was not hers. A very friendly gal, according to her finder. She was clearly someone’s pet. Well nourished, well “dressed”, sociable and quite playful–which tells us that an owner took the time to care for her, teach her proper manners and have fun with humans. Still, Ebony is a stray, and like for so many young adult Pitties, the “honey moon” got cut short. Ebony is welcoming in her kennel, tail wagging, with an engaging gaze. She walks well on the leash and eliminates as soon as we leave the building. She sits at once on command, and for treats that she takes nicely from my hand. She loves to eat and will dig into my goodies bag. She plays wonderfully well with a ball and does not guard it. Her eyes are full of life while she is waiting for me to throw it. Ebony has a very unique face and big ears flying above her head. She is quite a sweet gal, hopping on the bench next to me and settling comfortably despite the cold, with her forelegs on my laps. Time for caresses, kisses and hugs. Ebony is a nice gal we have at the Manhattan Care Center. She would make a great companion for the owner or family looking for a lively, loving and playful forever best friend.

Like in the song, “She is always on my mind.” I love Ebony, my very special girl. She might not be the picture perfect of the “Good Girl”, mostly when she is inside her kennel but leash her or set her free in a large pen, and you will see why I feel that way about her. Yes, Ebony is energetic. She loves to run and play, mostly with a ball. She is a great retriever because she is smart and knows that two must play the game to truly have fun. She is so good , laying by my side, on the bench, enjoying her toy while being kissed and caressed. Nothing matters anymore. Ebony feels blessed. Although she will come right away to her door when a dog passes her kennel, she is known to be excellent in playgroups with other pooches regardless of their behavior. She knows how to handle iffy situations. I really like that. I guess if she was a human, she could work with “Customer Services”. I could go on and on and on about Ebony. I so wish you could see her greatness, meet her and take her home as your lovely and lively forever best friend.
