08/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dhaka came to our center after a member of the public found him running across the street and avoiding cars. He was nervous upon intake, but allowed all handling. Dhaka allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes soft and squinty, body soft. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. Dhaka was unresponsive during the Tag game, but not fearful. He settled easily at the end of game. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Dhaka had no interest in Food, Toy, or Rawhide. Dhaka did not approach the helper dog, body not stiff. The Behavior Team feels Dhaka could go to an Average home. He would do best with regularly scheduled grooming visits so his fur doesn’t mat which may affect his comfort level and demeanor. Look: 1. Dogs eyes are averted, soft and squinty, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game with coaxing. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog.
