08/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1047735 Data came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home, but the finder did state Data displayed defensive behaviors (lunging and growling) to their dogs. At intake it was noted that Data was alert to his surroundings, but was loose and allowed all handling by the counselor. During SAFER Data maintained a relaxed body posture when interacting with the assessor, and was also relaxed during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Data became stiff and growled when pushed out of the food bowl, but did not escalate to snapping. He was not interested in the toy items, and only showed minimal interest for the rawhides. Data shows potential for possessive behaviors over food, and may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. The department feels Data would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog sniffs, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog.
