Social Life and Personality: Coast is a lover of kids. She is still young so she can get a little excited but she just loves to play with kids, adults and other dogs. This girl can get a little on the rough side but she is also very smart and would love to be trained! Coast has never spent any time with cats. She is house trained pretty well but she has had accidents about once every other month on average. This dog has a high activity level and is very affectionate and playful. Behavior History: Coast is normally happy with most things. She will snap if a small person or child touches her food bowl. If you take a bone or treat away she will just look at you until she loses interest. Coast is used to going to the groomer for a bath and a nail trim and she loves every minute of it. If someone unfamiliar comes close Coast will try to make friends with them, she is a very friendly dog. For a New Family to Know: Coast is a very smart dog. She already knows how to sit and lay down on command. Coast love a good long walk around the neighborhood. When it comes to toys this pup loves anything she is given. She also loves to play fetch and tug of war. Coast loves to sleep on the cool tile and loves wet food.

09/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Coast previously lived with one adult and had been socialized with kids. The owner stated Coast is a lover of kids; she is still young so she can get a little excited but she just loves to play with kids, adults and other dogs. The owner stated Coast can get a little on the rough side, she is house trained and she has a high activity level. It was mentioned by the owner Coast will snap if a small person or child touches her food bowl, if you take a bone or treat away she will just look at you. During SAFER Coast came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Coast was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food item Coast calmly allows the food to be moved and lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek, toy item she showed no interest and rawhide item she snapped at the assess-a-hand. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite.
