09/05/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/05/15 14:26 BASIC INFO Ruby’s family got her as a gift from a family member 3-4 years ago. They bred her and sold her three litters of puppies. Her most recent litter was 3 months ago. They surrendered her because they don’t have time for her. SOCIALIZATION Ruby is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She lived with a 1 year old child and was relaxed, playful, and tolerant with her. She plays gently with all people. Ruby lived with a cat and was relaxed, playful, and tolerant with him. She met dogs outside on walks. She barked at females but was relaxed and playful with males. She’s never bit any people/animals. BEHAVIOR Ruby barks during fireworks. She loves being bathed and brushed and is friendly with strangers that approach her home/family. She doesn’t mind when someone takes her food/treat/toy, moves her off furniture, holds/restrains her, or wakes her up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Ruby’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, excitable, and medium energy. She follows her family around. She likes to play in water and with stuffed animals. She plays fetch and chase. She lived inside and slept on a blanket. She ate dry and wet Pedigree food and enjoyed rice, beans, and chicken as a treat. She’s housetrained, doesn’t have accidents, and potties on grass. She’s well-behaved while home alone. She went for slow walks and didn’t pull on her leash. Off leash, she wanders but comes when called. INTAKE Ruby had a soft, relaxed body during all of her intake. Her owner kept dropping her leash and she remained sitting next to him. While I typed her memos, she sat or lied at my feet quietly. She maintained a soft body while we pet, scanned (-), collared, positioned for pictures, and put her into a kennel. She sat when asked and took treats very gently.
09/09/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ruby is a name that really suits this redbrown gal so well. She is gorgeous and healthy, well nourished and literally sparkles like a precious stone in the sun. Her glittering copper eyes make of her a lovely jewel. Ruby was relinquished into our care after being owned by the same family for four years. No time….Ruby was a mother recently and even three times before this last…She has done her “duties” and now has come her chance, with her stay at the Manhattan Care Center, to be a pet and only a pet, appreciated for herself and not what she can produce other than love. Ruby is understandably a little stressed but a simple ball game revives her playfullness and she acts like a spunky mama, running, jumping, catching the ball and cajoling it between her paws. She has such a beautiful smile when she is happy… Although I bet she loves food, Ruby does not care for most of my treats. Roastbeef is another story and she will sit to get more. She walks very nicely on the leash, without pulling, not forgetting to relieve herself(we were told that she is very much housetrained). She meets uneventfully other dogs in the street. She is very sweet and will cuddle on my lap as we rest on the sidewalk. Ruby comes with excellent comments. She lived with a very young child and a cat that she respected. She is known to be a well mannered family dog, playful, loving, non destructive and friendly to all. She has in her all what it takes to be a fantastic forever best friend. Come, meet her soon and take her home.
