07/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Circles came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home. During his medical exam Circles was reported to become uncomfortable with handling around his mouth, and will gave a warning (growling) but did not escalate to snapping or a bite. During SAFER he was not attention seeking, and appeared to be more interested in his surroundings. Circles allowed the assessor to conduct most handling, but became very stiff and uncomfortable for the paw handling item. During the resources portion of the assessment Circles did not show any interest in the resources items. Due to the behavior concerns seen on the assessment the department recommends placement with a New Hope partner. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is down, body tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1: 5. Dog freezes Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-Dog: Off leash Circles, doesn’t engage in play, mainly explores/sniffs the yard. Greets appropriately.
