06/11/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/11/15 08:35 Charzard came in as a stray via the police. Officers stated that while they were trying to corral him off the highway he would have slightly stiff body with tail tucked between legs but he did not attempt to bite, snap, or growl at them. During intake he was waking up from being tranquilized (officers did so because he was attempting to run into traffic and did not want him to get hurt) and at first would growl at admission counselor while being scanned inside the crate. When taken out he had relaxed body with slight tail wag. Allowed to be collared, pictured, leashed, and touched without aggression. When given treat showed no interest in it and when walking around had soft, relaxed body and approached extended hands from staff members while sniffing them.
06/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A big boy with a big personality, it took a couple of days for us to get to know him. Always at the front of his kennel with an imposing presence due to his size, once Charzard began to wag his tail as I unlatched his door I knew we’d be friends. He pulls hard on the leash so we head for the backyard and some off-leash time. Likely housetrained, he ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door, and when off leash followed me around the pen nudging my hand to pet him. His sparkling eyes and big smile won me over as he lay across my lap and gave me some kisses. Taking treats gently, and then spitting them out as gently, he still gives me a ‘sit’, and poses perfectly for photos. Snuggling in for some hugs, he next turns up his belly for a good belly rub, tail wagging a mile a minute. As a small Chihuahua walks by our pen, Charzard bounds over and play bows and gives a welcoming bark. Too small Charzard, sorry! Charzard loves to play ball, jumping up excitedly when he sees the ball in my hand, giving chase and doing a semi-retrieve. A big boy, beautifully groomed in his cocoa color coat, Charzard is looking for a personality to match his… active, friendly, playful and affectionate, and big in spirit. If that describes you, come meet our big boy today.
