BEHAVIOR: NEW HOPE ONLY
Champlain came into the Care Center as a Stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Champlain was reported to be very sociable and easy to handle. During SAFER Champlain was also very sociable towards the assessor, and jumped up when greeting. He had a relaxed body posture during all of the handling items, and was playful during the tag interaction. Champlain did show some concerns during the food item; growls and snaps at the assesse-a-hand when pushed out of the food bowl. He only showed minimal interest in the toy item, and was not interested in the rawhides. Due to the guarding concerns seen during the food item, the department feels placement with a New Hope partner is recommended so the behavior seen can be more fully explored before adoption into a permanent home.
